The problem: a bolt stuck in the door frame

Our customer in Bishan contacted us after their digital lock jammed. The bolt was stuck in the door frame, leaving the door unable to open.

Restoring access without drilling the door

We carefully drilled only part of the faulty lock to clear the jam and regain access. There was no need to drill into the door itself. The customer was able to get back inside.

The appropriate opening method depends on the lock and the fault. This was the approach used for this particular job; other lockouts may need a different assessment.

A new Gateman WG200 the next day

As it was close to midnight, we restored access first and returned the next day to install a brand-new Gateman WG200 digital lock. Thank you to our customer for trusting Infinite Locksmith & Digital Locks with both the emergency opening and the replacement.

What to do if your digital lock jams

If a bolt catches or the lock struggles to operate, avoid repeatedly forcing the handle, cycling the motor or slamming the door. Send clear photos of the lock and door, your location, and a description of what happens when you try to open it. If anyone is trapped or in immediate danger, contact emergency services.

Jamming can have different causes, so the lock and door need to be assessed before deciding whether adjustment, repair or replacement is appropriate.

Reduce avoidable wear before a lockout happens

Close the door gently, act early if the bolt starts scraping and consider a suitable, correctly adjusted door closer where the door tends to slam. Use lubricants only where the lock manufacturer permits them. These habits can reduce avoidable stress, but they cannot prevent every failure.
